Everything you need to know about Oregon WR Josh Huff

Apparently, the Eagles were not done taking wide receivers during Day 2 of the 2014 NFL Draft.

That's because with the 86th overall pick, the Eagles selected Oregon wide receiver Josh Huff — a player that head coach Chip Kelly is obviously familiar with.

In case you are unfamiliar, Huff was a two-time All-Pac-12 honorable mention performer his last two collegiate seasons.

In 11 games in 2012, Huff caught 32 passes for 493 yards and seven touchdowns. His numbers dramatically increased in 2013, as he caught 62 passes for 1,140 yards and 12 touchdowns. His 12 touchdowns tied a school record for the most in a single season, tying fellow Eagles wide receiver Jeff Maehl. He also averaged 18.4 yards per reception. Huff's main claim to fame at Oregon was his ability to make people miss after he got his hands on the ball.

Standing at only 5 feet, 11 inches, Huff's skill set sounds eerily similar to that of former Eagles receiver DeSean Jackson.

Here are his combine results:

40 Yrd Dash: 4.46
20 Yrd Dash: 2.58
10 Yrd Dash: 1.57

225 Lb. Bench Reps: 14
Vertical Jump: 35 1/2
Broad Jump: 9'8"
20 Yrd Shuttle: -
3-Cone Drill: -

According to NFL.com, Huff possesses great athleticism, but has room to improve when it comes to his strength.

STRENGTHS: Nice size with a lean, tight-skinned body. Very athletic with natural balance and body control. Good speed and a fluid stride. Soft, quick hands to extend and snatch throws off his frame. Makes contested grabs. Can take a hit and hang on. Settles in zone pockets. Creates after the catch -- competitive, elusive and strong. Playmaking ability -- averaged 18.4 yards per catch as a senior. Gets after it as a blocker -- works to position, fit and sustain. Desirable temperament -- determined, tough and confident. Has special-teams experience returning and covering kicks. Works hard and wants to be coached.

WEAKNESSES: Could stand to get stronger. Was not pressed at Oregon. Lacks elite explosion and top speed to pull away vertically. Limited route tree. Could stand to refine his route running. Lets some throws into his body and tends to trap some. Not a go-up-and-get-it guy (average leaping ability). Is relatively naïve through no fault of his own and off-field maturation is a work in progress. Could require emotional support and professional mentorship in order to avoid the pitfalls of NFL trappings.

From CBSSports.com:

A three-star running back recruit out of high school, Huff didn't receive a scholarship offer from many schools in his home state of Texas, but he jumped at the chance to join Oregon's offensive attack.

He saw immediate action as a true freshman and improved his numbers each season, (including starts) setting career-bests as a senior with a team-best 62 catches for 1,140 yards and 12 touchdowns.

Huff has only average height, but is very well put together for his size with the natural athleticism you want at the position, showing explosive cuts and fluid body control to be a dangerous threat after the catch. He catches the ball with his hands, but his ball skills are very average and his streaky focus is the main concern - an early day three draft pick who will prove a steal if he can eliminate the drops.
