Eagles 2017 NFL draft picks at a glance
The Birds picked up eight players
EAGLES PICKS
1st round, No. 14
Derek Barnett: DE, Tennessee, 6-foot-3, 259 pounds
The Eagles passed on riskier options to take a safe, productive pass rusher who broke Reggie White's college sack record and is only 20 years old.
2nd round, No. 43
Sidney Jones: CB, Washington, 6-0, 186
The risk came in here, when the Eagles took Jones,
a potential No. 1 cornerback who would have been a first-round pick before tearing his Achilles tendon in March.
3rd round, No.99
Rasul Douglas: CB, West Virginia, 6-2, 209
Douglas gives the Eagles a tall, long cornerback who led the nation last season with eight interceptions and will compete for early playing time.
4th round, No. 118
Mack Hollins: WR, North Carolina, 6-4, 221
Hollins offers an intriguing size-speed combination to develop and will be an immediate contributor on special teams.
4th round, No. 132
Donnel Pumphrey: RB, San Diego State, 5-8, 176
Pumphrey won't impress anyone with his size, but no running back rushed for more yards in Division I-A history and he can now learn under Darren Sproles.
5th round, No. 166
Shelton Gibson: WR, West Virginia, 5-11, 191
The Eagles lacked a deep threat last season, and Gibson has the speed to stretch the field.
5th round, No. 184
Nate Gerry: LB, Nebraska, 6-2, 218
A college safety whom the Eagles will convert to linebacker, Gerry offers coverage ability if he can make the transition and could contribute on special teams.
6th round, No. 214
Elijah Qualls: DT, Washington, 6-1, 313
Qualls is stout and athletic and could earn a spot as a rotational defensive tackle.
