Veteran goaltender Dominik Hasek has signed a one-year deal with Spartak Moscow to play in the nascent Kontinental Hockey League.
Hasek signed with Spartak in Moscow on Monday. He won the Stanley Cup twice and was voted the most valuable player twice during a glittering 16-season NHL career.
Jackets hire coach
The Columbus Dispatch is reporting that Manitoba coach Scott Arniel of the AHL has been hired for the same job with the Blue Jackets. Ken Hitchcock was fired midway through last season.
A news conference is scheduled for Tuesday.
