Caps top Rangers
Nicklas Backstrom and Alex Ovechkin scored in the shootout and regulation to give the Washington Capitals a 3-2 victory over the host New York Rangers as the Caps extended their winning streak to three.
Tampa Bay fires Boucher
The Tampa Bay Lightning have fired coach Guy Boucher, the team announced Sunday.
Lightning general manager Steve Yzerman said in a statement that "Guy has poured his heart and soul into the Lightning organization for these past three years and we appreciate all the work he has done."
Kovalchuck sidelined
New Jersey Devils star Ilya Kovalchuk will be out two to four weeks after hurting his right shoulder.
General manager Lou Lamoriello said he won't need surgery.
