Grand honor for Flyers defenseman Kimmo Timonen
Flyers pay tribute to defenseman for reaching 1,000 career NHL games.

KIMMO TIMONEN played his 1,000th career NHL game last Monday in Tampa Bay, but it wasn't the same without his family in the building. On Tuesday, the Flyers honored the defenseman in a pregame ceremony, where he was joined on the ice by his family, including his parents, who traveled from his native Finland.
Timonen, 38, became only the sixth Finnish-born player and 282nd NHL player to hit the milestone. Only 3.7 percent of the 7,445-plus players to pull on an NHL jersey will make it to 1,000 games.
Timonen was presented a Tiffany crystal by NHL vice president Jim Gregory, a commemorative silver stick by Paul Holmgren and a Rolex watch by his teammates.
