COACHING CAREER:

* Berube had started his seventh season as assistant coach with the Flyers before being promoted yesterday. He was head coach of the Phantoms for six games in 2006-07 before being promoted to the Flyers as an assistant. He coached the Phantoms in 2007-08 (46-24-4-3 record with Phantoms). He also was an assistant coach with Phantoms for parts of three seasons (2003-06).

PLAYING CAREER:

* Originally signed as a free agent, Berube played 1,054 games over

17 seasons (1986-2003). He played for the Flyers, Maple Leafs, Flames, Capitals and Islanders. He scored 61 goals and 98 assists for 159 points. He also had 3,149 penalty minutes, seventh on the NHL all-time list.

For the Flyers, he played in 323 games, and scored 20 goals and 34 assists and had 1,138 penalty minutes, ninth on the Flyers' all-time list.
