Timonen's streak ends at 248

WASHINGTON -- Kimmo Timonen is no Doug Jarvis.

Timonen wasn't approaching Jarvis' NHL record 964 consecutive games played, or "iroman" streak, but he did see an impressive run of longevity end on Sunday night in Washington.

Prior to the Flyers' contest with the Capitals, general manager Paul Holmgren announced that Timonen and Andrej Meszaros are "out indefinitely" with vague lower-body injuries.

Timonen's run of 248 straight games is now over.
