Steinmetz set to defend Phila. Open title
Defending champion Rich Steinmetz, head pro at Spring Ford Country Club in Royersford, leads a field of 72 players into Wednesday's 106th Philadelphia Open over the North Course of Philmont Country Club in Huntingdon Valley.

The one-day 36-hole event features 34 professionals and 38 amateurs. Past champions competing include Stu Ingraham of M-Golf, Brian Kelly of Bucknell, Terry Hertzog of Bent Creek and David Quinn of Links.
Some of the top amateurs in the field are Philadelphia Amateur champion Justin Martinson of Hartefeld National and Tavistock's Thomas Gramigna, winner of the Golf Association of Philadelphia's Middle-Amateur.
