Eagles put Stricker atop the Memorial

DUBLIN, Ohio - Steve Stricker holed out from the fairway for one of his two eagles Saturday, then wound up with a 3-under 69 on a steamy afternoon at Muirfield Village and finished with a 3-shot lead in the Memorial.

But right when it looked as though Stricker might leave everyone in his wake, he missed a 4-foot birdie putt on the 14th hole that threw his round into reverse. He is 12-under 204, 3 shots clear of Jonathan Byrd.

European Tour

NEWPORT, Wales - Alexander Noren kept his lead at the Wales Open after defending champion Graeme McDowell slumped to 11 strokes off the pace following a stunning collapse at Celtic Manor.

Noren shot par 71 after four birdies on the back nine to total 8-under 205.

McDowell shot an 81, including three bogeys, three double-bogeys, and a quadruple-bogey at No. 12.

Champions Tour

WEST DES MOINES, Iowa - Mark Brooks survived a shaky finish for a 4-under 67 and a 1-stroke lead after the second round of the Principal Charity Classic.

Brooks, a Champions Tour rookie, finished 36 holes at 10-under 132.
