In the lead for the first time all year, Tiger Woods got the same result as his last time atop the leader board: He couldn't break par.

Woods - who was on top after Friday's round - bogeyed his first three holes Saturday in the Australian Open at The Lakes CC in Sydney, and it didn't get much better from there. He managed only two birdies on a good day for scoring, shot 3-over 75, and went from a 1-shot lead to 6 shots behind John Senden.

Senden, who won the Australian Open five years ago, birdied his last two holes to finish off a 9-under 63, giving him a one-shot lead over Jason Day going into Sunday.

AUTO RACING: Matt Kenseth won the pole for Sunday's Kobalt Tools 500 at Phoenix International Raceway with a lap of 137.101 m.p.h. A.J. Allmendinger and Marcos Ambrose qualified second and third as Ford swept the top three spots for the Chase for the Sprint Cup event in Avondale, Ariz. Championship contenders Tony Stewart and Carl Edwards qualified eighth and ninth. Edwards takes a three-point lead over Stewart into the penultimate race of the Chase for the Sprint Cup.

Formula One world champion Sebastian Vettel took the pole position for Sunday's Abu Dhabi Grand Prix in the United Arab Emirates, matching Nigel Mansell's record of 14 poles in a season. The German driver clocked 1 minute, 38.481 seconds at the Yas Marina circuit, 0.14 seconds quicker than McLaren driver Lewis Hamilton, who had dominated the practice sessions.

COLLEGES: The Centennial Conference named Haverford's Tom Donnelly the men's cross-country coach of the year for the second consecutive year. Jordan Schilit was the conference runner of the year. He was joined on the first team by Fords teammates Eric Arnold, Peter Kissin, Tim Schoch, Brian Sokas, and Andrew Sturner.

Georgetown's Steve Neumann, a Council Rock North graduate, was named to the Big East Conference first team in men's soccer.

Genny Pezzola and Allie Coleman of the Swarthmore volleyball team were named to the Capital One/CoSida Academic all-District IV volleyball first team.

Rowan kicker Tommy Wilczynski (Overbrook High) and defensive end Chris Popper (Egg Harbor Township) were selected to the Capital One/College Sports Information Directors of America (CoSIDA) Academic all-District II team.

Haverford College men's cross-country team captured the 2011 NCAA Mideast Regional title at DeSales University, earning a spot at the NCAA Division III championship meet next weekend in Oshkosh, Wis. The top two teams at each of the eight regionals across the country earn automatic bids, meaning that Dickinson College also advances.
