The inaugural Moorestown Invitational track meet was a rousing success yesterday. Cherokee and Pennsauken each recorded five first-place finishes in Division A while Haddonfield notched three gold medals in Division B in the relay-themed meet.

Cherokee and Pennsauken each recorded five first-place finishes in Division A while Haddonfield notched three gold medals in Division B in the relay-themed meet.
Pennsauken's Jamar Cofer, Adam Jones, Alfred Coker and Henry Bender teamed up to win the 4x100 (43.92) and 4x200 (1:32.9). John Berrios, Bender, Jerry Anderson and Adam Jones won the 4x400 in 3:30.46.
Cherokee's Aaron Decaires and Mike Schiafone won the 800-meter hurdle relay in 2:02.75. The duo teamed up with Chris Chen and Major Mobley to win the 440-hurdle relay in 1:04.3.
Haddonfield's Eric Bigelow, Stephen Cohn, Kevin McBeth and Andrew Tsafos won the 4x400 relay in 3:34.25 while teammates Colin Baker, Daniel Carreon, Erik Hinrichsen and Michael Burke won the 4x800 in 8:11.03.
Camden Catholic's Kevin McDonnell won the 5,000-meter run in 15:36.4 and Holy Spirit's Michael Keelber took first in the 1,500 in 4:09.3 - the two open events of the meet.
Bridgeton Relays. Host Bridgeton (Group 2), Delsea (Group 3) and Vineland (Group 4) captured their respective team titles at this venue.
Bridgeton excelled in the field where the Bulldogs picked up four first-place finishes. Dominique Williams and Steven Lane won the shot-put relay (96-4) while Williams and Edward Cisrow won the javelin relay (324-2). Joe Bunton and Robert Robinson combined for a 12-0 first-place effort in the high jump while Bunton and Allen won the long jump with a combined leap of 39-11.
Delsea's Udochi Okoro, Melton Diggs, Joe Gregory and Fred Lavar won the 4x100 relay in 42.3. Sean McPherson, Okoro, Diggs and Lavar ran a first-place time of 1:29.4 in the 4x200.
Davon Goldsborough, Yadid Chaniz-Rico and Jarell Lecator were part of two winning relay teams in the 4x100 (43.4) and spring medley (3:39.2) for Vineland.

Cherry Hill East
's Nikhil Yegya-Raman and Dave Bernstein notched a 6-3, 6-2 victory in the deciding match at second doubles as the Cougars pulled out a 3-2 victory over host
Moorestown
in the championship of the Moorestown Classic.
Ravi Yegya-Raman and Ross Silverberg picked up East's other two victories at first and second singles.
St. Augustine finished third with a 4-1 victory over the Hun School in the consolation match.
Baseball
Mike Plakis connected for a grand slam en route to Most Valuable Player honors as
Bishop Eustace
claimed a 14-3 victory over
Camden Catholic
in the Ralph Shaw Tournament championship game at Audubon.
Plakis went 2 for 3 with four RBIs in the final for the Crusaders.
In the consolation game, Bob Chiarulli finished with six shutout innings as Audubon claimed a 4-2 victory over Riverside.
The senior right-hander allowed two hits, struck out nine and helped his own cause with a two-run triple. In three starts (15 innings), Chiarulli has yielded just one earned run.
South Jersey Classic. Gary Wilson fired a four-hit shutout as Cherokee checked into the championship game with a 4-0 win over Absegami.
The Chiefs (6-0) will play Buena (7-1) in next Sunday's final at Washington Township. Game time is 2 p.m. The game was originally scheduled for today but was postponed because of the prediction of wet weather.
Wilson, who improved to 3-0, struck out six and walked three. He also delivered a RBI triple, one of just three Cherokee hits.
Wade Battelini launched a two-run homer as Buena earned a 2-0 win over host Washington Township in the other semifinal.
Battelini's blast occurred in the sixth inning off Township starter Rob Swift. Mike Ney twirled a four-hitter with three strikeouts and one walk.
Olympic. Frank Schmidt and D.J. Nork each collected two RBIs as Cherry Hill West pounded out a 13-6 victory at crosstown rival Cherry Hill East.
Tri-County. Terry Hogate delivered a key RBI double as Pennsville chalked up a 5-4 home win against Gloucester. Ryan Karr had two hits, two runs scored, and a RBI for the Eagles.
Delaney Tournament. B.J. Cromley and Dan Winstorfer had two RBIs apiece as Clayton earned an 8-5 victory over Pennsauken Tech in the consolation game.
Nonleague. Seth Cardene drove in two runs and Ryan Cole scored three as Rancocas Valley pinned an 11-1 loss on visiting Ocean City. Sean Tracy handcuffed the Red Raiders on three hits and struck out four.
Joel Bacon knocked in three runs and Michael Hughes chipped in two doubles and two RBIs as Salem scored nine unanswered runs en route to a 9-2 win over Bridgeton.
John Dickerson had three hits, including a home run and three RBIs, to highlight Mainland's 6-1 home triumph against Williamstown.
Tom Holmstrom drove in three runs, including two on a home run in the seventh inning, as Pitman prevailed with an 11-5 victory at Haddon Township. Rob Cressman and Tim Matchett had two hits and two RBIs apiece for the Panthers.
Eastern wrapped up its trip to Cocoa Beach, Fla., with a 6-1 victory over Vermont's Northfield. Greg Katz struck out eight over six strong innings of work and Eric Oliver delivered a key two-run double for the Vikings.
