Dillon Evans of Council Rock South and Steve Armor of Springfield (Delco), second-team selections on The Inquirer's all-Southeastern Pennsylvania wrestling team, have committed to attend Virginia Tech.
Classes at Virginia Tech resumed Monday after a gunman killed 32 people and himself on the Blacksburg campus one week earlier.
"It was a shock, but it didn't really affect my decision," said Evans, 18, of Holland, Bucks County. He said he visited Virginia Tech about a month ago. "It was a freak thing that could have happened anywhere. It just happened to happen at Virginia Tech."
Competing at 152 and 160 pounds this season, Evans compiled a 45-8 record and qualified for the PIAA Class AAA state tournament for the fourth time. Armor, a 119-pounder, went 43-6 and placed seventh at states.
Council Rock South's Bryan Knoblauch (29-14 at 145 pounds) and Rob Vollrath (31-19 at 119) will join forces at Kutztown.
