Woodstown's Ott, Delran triumph in golf

Woodstown's Dan Ott fired a 2-under-par 69 to win the individual title at the South/Central Group 1 championships yesterday at Town and Country Golf Links in Woodstown.

's Dan Ott fired a 2-under-par 69 to win the individual title at the South/Central Group 1 championships yesterday at Town and Country Golf Links in Woodstown.

Delran's foursome of Pete D'Angelo (79), Josh Feldschneider (81), Joey Kane (83) and Steve Irons (84) captured the team championship (327), 2 strokes ahead of Haddonfield.

Haddonfield's Kyle Raudenbush (74), Middlesex's Greg Nordtvelt (76), Bordentown's Chris Mallett (76), and D'Angelo rounded out the top five.

The top two teams and top five individuals in each section qualified for the Tournament of Champions, to be held May 21 at Burlington Country Club.

Ott came out blazing, posting three birdies and an eagle on No. 9 for a 4-under 31 on the front nine. That score was 8 shots better than any other. Ott carded two birdies on the back nine.

South/Central Group 2. Powered by Jordan Ransome's second-place finish, Lower Cape May won the team title, beating Allentown by 3 strokes at Centerton Golf Club.

Ransome fired a 3-over-par 74 and was 1 shot behind Manasquan's Sam Gordon in the individual race.

Jim Ridgway (76), Mike Morey (77) and Bob Magee (78) also finished in the top 15 for the Tigers.

South/Central Group 3. Sean Tudor of Seneca shot a 4-over-par 76 to capture the individual title at Running Deer Golf Club.

Seneca placed second in the team race, 5 shots in back of West Windsor-Plainsboro South. Andrew Schmehl (78) finished fourth and Devon Sweeney (79) fifth.

Sacred Heart

wrapped up the Division II championship of the Cape-Atlantic League's National Conference with a 10-0 shutout at

St. Joseph

. Chris Fullam (6-10) got the win, freshman Isaac Gonzalez drove in five runs, and Paul Janetta had two singles, scored two runs and stole two bases.

Olympic. Jordan Fisher clubbed three home runs and joined Camden Catholic teammate Keith Reynolds in reaching 100 career hits as the Irish beat visiting Paul VI, 8-2.

Fisher, who has 101 hits, homered in the first, fourth and fifth innings, and Reynolds, who has 102 hits, tripled and homered. Jim Tarabocchia went 4 for 4.

Dan Grovatt, Dustin Worthman and Sam Pepper combined for five hits, seven RBIs and seven runs scored to highlight Seneca's 12-1 home win over Camden County Tech.

Fresh off reaching its postseason berth, Dave Steig fired a six-hitter with 10 strikeouts as Triton chalked up a 3-1 win over visiting Lenape. Nigel Shockley delivered the go-ahead run with a sacrifice fly.

Burlington County. Rex Workman tied a school record with his seventh homer of the season as Delran pounded out an 8-3 win over Bordentown. Workman finished with two runs scored and three RBIs for the Bears.

Colonial. John Minch homered twice, knocking in a career high of eight runs, but Lindenwold couldn't keep up with visiting Collingswood, which recorded a 19-9 win. Brad Kline hit a grand slam for Collingswood.

The Lions, who have clinched at least a share of the Patriot Division title, have knocked off second-ranked Lenape and third-ranked Washington Township, both American powerhouses.

Rachel Knable doubled twice and knocked in a run while Kristen Rienstra handcuffed the Minutemaids on three hits.

In another Olympic game, Brittany Hicks twirled a two-hitter, outdueling Britney Yocum, as Eastern squeaked out a 1-0 road win over Triton. Kelli Gaynor's two-out single scored Danyelle Lemon in the first inning.

Burlington County. Hillary Allen tossed a two-hitter and Kara Lynch and Ashleigh Johnson delivered RBIs as Bordentown successfully defended its Patriot Division title, clinching the championship with a 2-0 home win over Delran.

Colonial. Lauren Vacca's two-out, two-run single was the key hit as Haddon Township pushed across three runs in the sixth inning in a 3-2 comeback win over visiting Haddon Heights.
