's Jill Keeney had to figure that no time was the best time to beat host

George School

in field hockey yesterday.

Keeney scored off a penalty corner with no time left on the second-half clock to give her team a 1-0 Friends Schools League win.

Chelsea Guy-Frank scored twice as Germantown Friends went on the road to earn its first win of the season, 3-1, at Westtown.

Phoebe Hopkins scored both goals as host Friends Select tied Academy of the New Church, 2-2.

Dominique Daniels had eight saves in goal for the Falcons (7-2-1, 1-2-1), who led, 2-1, going into the final 10 minutes of play.

Kelsey Kiel's two goals proved to be the difference for visiting Academy of the New Church in a 3-1 win at Abington Friends.

Public. Nhat-Khan Truong, a senior, scored her first career varsity goal to highlight Central's 3-0 win over visiting Lincoln.

The Lancers (6-3-1 overall, 6-2 league) took a 2-0 lead on early goals from Sarah Greenberg and Tali Fish.

Ashley Harkins and Jenny Ho scored for host Northeast in a 2-0 win over Frankford. Erin Null turned back all four shots she faced in goal for the Vikings.

Inter-Ac. Avery Curley scored with six minutes left in the first half to give host Episcopal Academy a 1-0 win over Springside.

Becca Foley's second goal, 90 seconds into overtime, gave Penn Charter a 4-3 win over visiting Baldwin.

Central. Alex Duckenfield's two goals proved to be the difference for Strath Haven in a 3-1 win at Marple Newtown. The Panthers also got a goal from Julia Hajnoczky. Jeanette Dempsey scored for the Tigers.

Rhian Jones scored four minutes into the first overtime to give Haverford High a 2-1 win at Conestoga. Anna Rupnick also scored for the Fords.

Taylor Wright scored a goal and added a pair of assists as host Strath Haven handled Garnet Valley, 5-0.

Leah Coan scored a first-half goal off a Brooke Lombardi pass to give host Garnet Valley a 1-0 win over Ridley.

Ches-Mont. Laura Cushing scored twice as host Unionville had four second-half goals to break open a close game and beat Octorara, 5-1.

The game was tied 1-1 at the half before goals by Cushing, Kristin Brownett, Sam Skuraton and Jackie Buckley put a scoring cushion between the schools. Unionville is now 8-5 overall, 4-3 in the league.

Meredith Ciurlino's first-half goal turned out to be the game-winner for host Avon Grove in a 3-0 win over Downingtown East. Charlotte Mabon and Emily Wheble also scored for the Red Devils (9-7-1, 5-4-1).

Courtney Corcoran's goal with 4:06 left gave host West Chester East a 1-1 tie with Bishop Shanahan. Nicole Fiorilla scored for the Eagles.

In an American Division game between the top two teams, Bayard Rustin got two second-half goals from Alyssa Gallen to hold off second-place Great Valley, 2-0.

Pioneer Athletic. Melissa Quici and Miranda Peto each scored twice to boost host Phoenixville to a 5-0 win over Lansdale Catholic. The Phantoms (11-5-1) also got a goal from Rachel Schaefer and seven saves from Rachel Yacovett.

Del-Val. Samantha Morton's second half goal stood up for host Penn Wood in a 1-0 win over Harriton. Cynthia Gaines assisted on the game-winning goal for the Patriots (2-7-2, 2-5-1).

Bicentennial. Kelly Pond and Kellie Pinto scored as Bristol beat Lower Moreland, 2-1.

Anika Ross' first-half goal turned out to be the game-winner for host Jenkintown in a 4-0 win over Plumstead Christian. The Drakes (6-5-2) got second-half goals from Sarah Finan, Mary Morris and Karly Eyre and two saves from goalie Erin Dawson.

Catholic Academies. Molly Murphy and Mary Ellen Bolles each scored twice to lead Villa Maria to a 6-0 win at Sacred Heart. Sera Berlacher and Kate Briglia also scored for the Hurricanes, who led, 5-0, at the half.

Christina Pascale and Alex Sawicki scored for host Nazareth Academy in a 2-0 win over Mount St. Joseph.

Five players scored for host Gwynedd-Mercy in a 5-0 win over Merion Mercy. Erin Ryan led the way with a goal and two assists.

Nonleague. Steph Parcell and Sam Reilly scored second-half goals to power host Interboro to a 2-0 win over Conwell-Egan. Goalie Elaine Rasnake had 13 saves for the Bucs (11-4).

Amanda Lozinak scored with two minutes left to break a tie and give West-Mont Christian a 2-1 win at Lehigh Christian.

Shipley got contributions from just about everyone on the roster in a 7-0 win at Friends Select. Seven players scored goals. The seven contributors were Leighann Quill, Laura DiClemente, Jenny Kley, Kendall Roberts, Maureen Gentry, Rebecca Yuska and Artemis Zavaglious. Shipley is now 8-3-2 overall, 4-0 league.

Lydia Kring scored a goal and assisted on the other as host Germantown Friends blanked Moorestown Friends, 2-0.

Inter-Ac. Laura Kurash scored all of the goals in Penn Charter's 3-0 win at Baldwin.

Central. Rachel Renninger scored one of her two goals on a penalty kick to lead Conestoga to a 4-0 win at Lower Merion. Ashley Field and Taylor Mallory also scored for the Pioneers.

Jen Gangl's goal with seven minutes left in the second half gave Radnor a 2-1 win at Springfield (Delaware County). Gabby Miller also scored for the Red Raiders. Kerry Burbidge scored for the Cougars. The Red Raiders (12-3, 5-3) got five saves from goalie Laura Privette.

Pioneer Athletic. Caitlin Raynes scored on a penalty kick in the second overtime to give Upper Perkiomen a 1-0 win at Lansdale Catholic.

The game was a case of the Tribe's making the most of its opportunities as Raynes' shot represented only the second all day for Upper Perkiomen.

Lansdale Catholic, on the other hand, peppered Upper Perkiomen goalie Emily Cota with 31 shots.

Penn-Jersey. Host Solebury School scored three goals in the second half to break open a close game and beat Barrack Hebrew Academy, 4-1. After Laura Lacy's first-half goal gave the Spartans a 1-1 tie, Solebury School got consecutive goals from Morgan Tedinka, Sharon Lardstrom and Jenn Barbo.

Catholic Academies. Meghan Ledwith and Meghan Verduer scored for host Villa Joseph Marie in a 2-0 win over St. Basil.

Nonleague. Cayla Huppert scored four goals as Friends' Central coasted to a 6-1 win at Phil-Mont Christian. Sarah Bradburd and Erica Bash also scored for the Phoenix.

Harriton scored a goal in each half to beat visiting Marple Newtown, 2-1.

Tennis

Pennsbury

won all of its matches in straight sets to beat

, 5-0, in a PIAA District 1 Class AAA first-round match.

The 15-2 Falcons, who host Radnor tomorrow, got a 6-0, 6-1 win at first singles from Lauren Rossi.

In other first-round matches:

Kit Klinger won at first singles to give host Conestoga a 5-0 win over Bishop Shanahan.

The most interesting match of the afternoon had to come at third singles, where Conestoga's Edith Chang outlasted Lauren Davis, 3-6, 6-4, 10-7.

Central League runner-up Radnor coasted to a 5-0 win over visiting Central Bucks East, getting singles wins from Lauren Bridges, Olesya Kuchma and Winnie Wolfe.

Catholic. Ali Frendak won 6-4, 7-5 at first singles to lead host Archbishop Wood to a 4-1 win over Conwell-Egan.
