Steve Caputo, a 6-foot-4, 295-pound offensive lineman from Unionville High, has orally committed to Temple.

Caputo picked the Owls after visiting Syracuse over the weekend.

"I was trying to figure out what was best for me," Caputo said. "The picture was real clear. I just have a good feeling about Temple."

Temple coach Al Golden and two assistants met with Caputo on Monday at his family's home.

"I told them that I plan to come in, work hard, and battle for a starting spot right away," Caputo said. "Coach Golden said, 'Good, we're on the same page.' "

Caputo also had scholarship offers from Buffalo, Delaware and Syracuse.

"I think if he works hard and if they're playing young kids up front, he'll be able to help out right away," Unionville coach Pat Clark said. "He has tremendous strength and a great work ethic. What separates him from other guys his size is that he's athletic."

Caputo brings the number of Temple recruits to 22. Golden has three scholarships available. National signing day is Feb. 6.
