FIVE PLAYERS TO WATCH

Jack Brennan, senior, Sterling:

The 6-foot-6 center improved dramatically last season and is one of the region's most reliable inside players. He averaged 12.8 points per game last season.

Keith Davis, senior, Woodbury:

The 6-4 forward averaged 16.3 points per game last season and reached double figures in 20 of 26 games. Davis missed most of this season's preseason, however, and may get off to a slow start.

A.J. Greenwald, junior,

West Deptford: The 5-11 point guard sees the floor extremely well and is the Eagles' go-to player. Last season, he averaged 14.5 points and six assists per game.

Darnell McCargo, senior, Collingswood:

The 6-2 guard is explosive off the dribble and a fine shooter. He averaged 18.6 points per game last season.

Rob MacFeeters, senior, Haddonfield:

The 6-4 forward blossomed late last season - witness his 19 points in a Group 2 state semifinal win over Ewing. He will be a key player in Haddonfield's quest for another conference and sectional title.

FIVE GAMES TO WATCH

Haddonfield at Collingswood, Thursday.

Here's part one of what has become one of South Jersey's best rivalries. The rematch is Feb. 2 at Haddonfield, and the teams also seem to always meet in the Group 2 tourney.

Woodbury at Collingswood, Jan. 3.

Can Woodbury emerge as a contender? We'll find out.

Audubon at Gateway, Jan. 15.

This is a friendly family feud that matches opposing coaches who are cousins: Audubon's Dave Ricci and Gateway's Mike Ricci. The rematch is Feb. 14.

Sterling at Paulsboro,

Jan. 17.

These two teams always seem to play down-to-the-wire classics. (Last season, Paulsboro won, 58-57, but Sterling won the rematch, 48-45.)

Sterling at Haddonfield,

Jan. 24.

Get there early. Haddonfield's bandbox of a gym figures to be filled long before the JV game ends.

SCOUTING REPORT

On Collingswood's

Darnell McCargo:

"He's very versatile. He can handle the ball, he has a good outside shot, and he's a slasher who gets to the basket real quick."

- Audubon coach Dave Ricci
