Hill School wins Mercer tourney

Patrick Lee collected 20 points, nine rebounds, five blocked shots, and the outstanding player award while leading host Hill School to the championship of the 38th annual Dave Mercer boys' basketball tournament with a 73-54 win over Abington Friends yesterday.

Lee, a 6-foot-6 senior forward, helped Hill to its second straight title in the eight-team event. Amauris Quezada added 18 points and five assists, while AFS' Bryan Cohen (13 points) and Mike Walther (12) each earned all-tournament honors.

Roman Catholic

battled back from a 27-7 deficit to take a lead with 22 seconds remaining, but fell short in a 57-56 third-place loss to

Fremont

(Cal.).

Roman's Malik Wayns had 28 points with four three-pointers and earned all-tournament honors.

's 61-51 win at

featured Sergino Mystil's 13 points, nine rebounds and four assists, while Rob Holloman tossed in 20 points and Eric Brennan grabbed nine boards.

Wrestling

Germantown Academy

fared well at the Beast of the East tournament at the University of Delaware, producing a winner and a fourth-place finisher in the prestigious 80-team event.

The Patriots' Andrew Grabfelder, seeded third in his weight class, captured the 130-pound title with a 5-3 decision over top-seeded Anthony Valles of Blair Academy in the final.

Germantown Academy's Pat Owens finished fourth when he was pinned in the second period of his 119-pound consolation bout.
