The Paulsboro wrestling program's unrivaled reign over Colonial Conference foes has come to an end. The Red Raiders' in-conference winning streak, which began in 1971 and covered 307 matches, was halted at Collingswood last night, 28-22, setting off a wild celebration among the Panthers faithful.

The match was even, 22-22, with two weights remaining, when junior Will Heinel claimed a 6-0 decision to put Collingswood (12-2) ahead to stay.

It was the first conference loss for Paulsboro (10-3) since a 25-16 setback on Feb. 3, 1971 to eventual Colonial champion Haddon Township.

The Red Raiders still own a streak of Group 1 sectional championships that began in 1979, along with a string of 25 consecutive Group 1 state titles.
