Judge, La Salle to play tiebreaker

The regular season ended yesterday for Catholic League boys' basketball teams, but the playoff pairings are still not finalized as two tiebreaker games will be held this week to determine the postseason matchups.

Father Judge and La Salle each won games yesterday to finish with identical 8-6 records and a share of fourth place in the North Division. Since the teams split their two regular-season matchups, they will meet at 7 p.m. on Wednesday at Cardinal Dougherty in the tiebreaker game for the playoff berth.

Father Judge

notched a 63-50 win over visiting

Archbishop Wood

on the strength of a 33-18 first half and double-figure scoring from Andrew Vose (16 points), Jim DiLisio (13) and Tom Ryan (10).

La Salle

followed Matt Crozier's 16 points and 11 rebounds to a 61-41 success against visiting

. Leading by just 21-20 at intermission, the Explorers, which got 13 points from C.J. Aiken, erupted for a key 29-11 third period.

each finished with 9-5 division marks, but host Dougherty's 54-49 win over the Raiders assured the Cardinals of second place. Isiah Mason scored on a put-back with 14 seconds left to give Dougherty a three-point lead.

Carroll and Prep, which each finished with 8-6 division records, will meet in a playoff game to determine the South Division's fourth seed at 7 p.m. on Wednesday at Cardinal O'Hara.

, 64-31, and secured third place in the division. The Friars broke open a close game with a 26-11 third-quarter surge, paced by Lijah Thompson (18) and Rob Siter (17).

Father Judge

twins Jermaine and Jerome Lowery accounted for three first-place efforts in team events and aided a pair of relay wins, guiding the Crusaders to the boys' team title at the Catholic League championships at Lehigh University.

Jermaine and Jerome finished first and second in the 200-meter dash, traded places for first and second in the 400, and Jermaine Lowery took the 60 hurdles in a meet-record time of 8.27 seconds.

by 11.5 points in an 11-team competition, won the 4x400 and 4x800 relays.

La Salle

's Dan Lowery captured first in a pair of distance races, winning the mile in 4:24.17 and the 3,000 in 9:13.65.

In the girls' meet, O'Hara's team victory with 148 points featured Sarah Houtmann's wins in the 60 dash (8.14 and long jump (16 feet, 11 inches), and second place in the 200, and victories in four of five field events.
