Zaboleta, McKell take two swimming titles

Northeast's Ubaldo Zaboleta and West Region's Stephan McKell each won a pair of individual events, while Central Co-op swept all three relays in winning the District 12 swimming championship yesterday at La Salle University.

Central Co-op, made up of swimmers from Masterman, Carver and CAPA, took the 200-yard medley relay and the 200 and 400 free relays, rolling up 307.5 team points. Runner-up Central was second with 266.5.

Megan McFadden, Greg Golembeski, Emily Wilhite and Acoya Goines made up Central Co-op's medley relay team that won in 2 minutes, 2.10 seconds. Golembeski joined David Ashbridge, Michelle Towns and Stefan Gallini on the winning 200 free relay team, which had a time of 1:47.80. Wilhite, Goines, Towns and Gallini won the 400 free relay in 3:59.71.

Zaboleta won the 200 free (1:50.81) and 500 free (5:00.58). McKell was first in the 200 individual medley (2:23.56) and 100 backstroke (1:06.9).

It was the Co-op team's fourth league title in a row, and seventh title in eight years.
