Pa. Girls: Womack propels Methacton into hoops quarterfinals

's Renee Womack will be a big Lady Lion in a few months.
Methacton beat State College in a PIAA State Class AAAA second-round game, 59-47, behind Womack's 14 points and 13 rebounds.
Her teammate from the Philadelphia Belles AAU team, Emily Suhey, had 18 points to lead State College. She is bound for Villanova University.
It was the 30th win of the season against just one loss for the Warriors, the District 1 runner-up.
State College (23-5) came into last night's game with some impressive credentials, too, winning the District 6 title and then capturing its first state playoff game, 58-41, against Lancaster McCaskey of District 6.
Womack, who will attend Penn State, came into the game averaging 15.7 points and 9.8 rebounds per game.
Methacton advances to a quarterfinal date against
Wilson
(West Lawn).

At Garden Spot High, Wilson earned its spot in the state quarterfinals by scoring the final 11 points of the game to hand
Great Valley
a heartbreaking 31-29 second-round defeat.
The Bulldogs were led by Amanda Sawlsville's 10 points, while Sam Simcox added seven.
Great Valley, the fifth-place finisher from District 1, was led by Andrea Pride's 11 points.
The Patriots completed a stellar 25-5 season but were so close to 26-4 when they entered the fourth quarter with a 29-24 lead.
The District 3 champion Bulldogs (29-3) then scored all seven points in the fourth quarter.

the District 11 champion, earned its second straight two-point win against a District 1 entry with a 60-58 win over Pioneer Athletic Conference champion

The Canaries (25-5) brought a large following of fans to the game at Hamburg High.
They won their first-round game against Abington, 35-33.
Allentown Allen advances to a quarterfinal date against Diostrict 3's second-place finisher, Central Dauphin East, which knocked off Downingtown West, 40-34.
