Conway propels Lenape foursome to golf crown

The Indians' foursome of Conway, Brad Sanders (82), Matt Malinowski (84), and Craig Smith (88) posted a score of 333, edging

West Windsor-Plainsboro South

by a shot in a field of the state's top teams.

Conway finished second in the Group 4 individual competition. Lenape last won the state golf title in 1967.

Gloucester County Tech

came home with a state title, claiming the Group 1 trophy with a 356 total, edging runner-up

Delran

by 4 strokes, and

Gloucester Catholic

finished second in Non-Public B.

Baseball

was one strike away from being eliminated from the South Jersey Group 4 playoffs, but the Cougars rallied to win, 9-4, at

Trailing by 4-2 in the seventh with two outs and an 0-2 count on No. 9 hitter Joe Cona, East came back with walks to Cona and Nick Petallino, a hit batter, a bases-loaded walk to Jeff Bohus, and another hit batter (Shaun Collins) for the tying run.

In the ninth inning, Brian Reynolds singled in a run and Brian Thompson doubled in two more.
