S. Jersey Boys: Clearview posts upset of Shawnee

The Pioneers (13-8), seeded ninth in a 13-team field, got one-hit pitching through six innings from sophomore starter Shane Taylor, but Taylor reached his maximum number of innings for the week and was relieved by eventual winner Mike Hand.

Clearview missed an earlier chance to break open the game, loading the bases with no outs in the sixth against Shawnee (18-2) starter Anthony Montefusco, but Quinton Miller relieved Montefusco and got three straight strikeouts and also struck out the side in the seventh.

Shawnee tied the game in the bottom of the seventh on Reid Pulford's two-run homer to center field.

In the Clearview eighth, Mike Addeo walked and was replaced by Rich, and Matt Bodine, who homered earlier, also drew a walk from Miller. Jim Emerich advanced the runners with a fielder's choice, and Hand hit a hard ground ball that was bobbled, allowing Rich to score.
