Jen Beaver broke the

Owen J. Roberts

school record for RBIs in a season by driving in four runs in the Wildcats' 15-0 shutout of

George Washington

in the opening round of the PIAA state Class AAAA softball tournament yesterday at Spring-Ford.

Kelly Schymanski pitched three innings with nine strikeouts and reliever Taylor Schultz threw one in the four-inning perfect game that put Owen J. Roberts (23-1) in the quarterfinals on Thursday.

Beaver boosted her season RBI total to 30 by going 2 for 2 with four runs batted in. The junior erased the record of 26 set by Ashley Dixon in 2005.

Lexi Vaszily slugged a three-run homer against the Eagles (13-3), and Maria Distenziere added a triple.

In other Class AAAA action,

Hatboro-Horsham

's Amanda Sadowl fashioned a 14-0 one-hit shutout of District 12 champion

Central

at Temple's Ambler Campus.

Rachel Gieringer contributed a two-run triple and a three-run homer, and Heather Hannum drove in four runs with a pair of triples.

Sadowl had five strikeouts in the five-inning contest and allowed only a third-inning single to Julie Touchstone.

State Class AAA.

A late rally by

Donegal

at Spring-Ford.

Donegal (22-4) took a 3-0 lead through five innings with RBI singles by Laura Gebhart and Morgan Kibler, but St. Basil closed the gap with a pair of sixth-inning runs.

In the sixth, Amanda Bachmann scored on a hit by pitcher Erin Gallagher, and Mary Kate Gallagher knocked in courtesy runner Britnee Smith, but St. Basil went down in order in the seventh.

Nazareth Academy

(20-3), the Catholic Academies champ and District 1 runner-up, also ended its season with a first-round loss, 5-3, to District 3 champion

Greencastle

at Newville.

State Class AA.

at Temple's Ambler Campus.
