Pa. Girls: Friends Select edges Little Flower in roof hockey

Friends Select's Maddy Barton scored with 10 minutes left to break a tie and give her team a 4-3 nonleague field hockey win over visiting Little Flower yesterday.

Amy Blum scored twice for the Falcons, with Natasha Trice tallying the other goal.

The game was played on the roof of the Center City school.

In other nonleague games:

Villa Maria scored all its goals in the first half, including two by Meghan Kellett, for a 3-0 win over visiting Lancaster Mennonite. Marie Elena Bolles added the other goal for the Hurricanes (1-1).

Notre Dame won at Radnor, 2-0, as Meghan McCullough scored two unassisted goals. Anna Dokas had six saves for the Irish (2-0).

Goals by Emily Hitchings and Amy Cross gave host Upper Dublin a 2-0 win over Spring-Ford.

Samantha Bartow's two goals and an assist helped host Ridley paste Chichester, 6-0. Shaela Allen scored and assisted for the Green Raiders.

Moriah Allen's first-half goal stood up for host Neshaminy in a 2-0 win over Mount St. Joseph. Marlene Schneider added an insurance goal in the second half.

Alyna Brown scored two minutes into the second half and Becca Reach added a goal 20 minutes later to give Souderton a 2-0 win at Upper Perkiomen.

Carley Neal scored in the first half off a pass from Amy Wadenfeld to give host Delco Christian a 1-0 win over Springfield (Delaware County).

Emily Wheble and Emma Lamontagne each scored twice for host Avon Grove in a 6-0 win over Coatesville.

Bicentennial.

Host Bristol scored a pair of goals in each half and coasted to a 4-0 win over New Hope-Solebury. Kelly Pond scored a pair of goals.

Sue Sanders scored a goal and assisted on another as West Chester Henderson topped host Bishop Shanahan, 4-0, in the Ches-Mont League opener for both schools.

Morgan Circe, Jess Ryan and Tara Stephan also scored. Goalie Jess Henderson had four assists for the Warriors.

Downingtown East got two goals apiece from Klare Lazor and Grace Best in a 5-1 win at West Chester East.

Avon Grove led, 2-0, at the half on goals by Hannah Fenstermacher and Jordan Francis on the way to a 4-1 win over visiting Coatesville.

Lauren Wilson's second goal broke a 2-2 tie and gave Downingtown West a 3-2 win at Boyertown.

Senior Christine Shimel shot a 3-under-par 33 to help Kennett earn a 194-213 Ches-Mont League win over Bishop Shanahan at the Downingtown Country Club.

At Cedarbrook, Caitlin O'Connor shot a 2-over-par 38 to lead host Gwynedd-Mercy to a 219-254 win over Nazareth Academy.

Kristen Boyer's win at first singles highlighted Conestoga's 7-0 Central League win at Garnet Valley. Boyer topped Jenna Davis, 6-1, 6-0.

Rhiannon Fiala's seven kills helped host Avon Grove sweep Coatesville, 25-6, 25-6, 25-20, in a Ches-Mont League match.
