Delco Christian gave Holy Ghost Prep all it could handle in a Bicentennial League soccer game yesterday. But Dan Affeldt proved to be the difference for the Firebirds.

Affeldt found the back of the net twice, including three minutes into overtime, and Holy Ghost edged the host Knights, 3-2.
Joe Taormino also scored for the Firebirds while Mike Schmidt tallied twice for Delco.

Jeff Young stopped 18 shots for Devon Prep, but the Tide fell to visiting New Hope-Solebury, 6-0.
Brothers Colin and Adam Moyer each scored goals and led Christopher Dock past visiting Lower Moreland, 2-0.

Koudzo Komlan scored off an assist from Carlos Barriga with 81/2 minutes left in the game and lifted Upper Darby to a 1-0 win over visiting Conestoga.
Anthony Santomieri turned aside three shots for the Royals while Pioneers goalie Matt Roe stopped 12 shots.

Pat Lawson converted a 25-yard direct kick into a goal and Dan Kursman scored on a header as Harriton eased past visiting Springfield (Delaware County), 2-1.

Football
Marquis White used overtime to score his second touchdown and handed Ben Franklin a 12-6 win over visiting Roxborough in a nonleague game.
The Electrons had the ball first in overtime, and White hauled in an option pass from Steve Garrett on fourth down. Donnell Jones ended the Indians chances with an interception.
White scored in the third quarter when he picked up a fumbled lateral and rumbled 41 yards into the end zone.

Chris Pennington rushed for 130 yards and four touchdowns to lift the Rams (1-1) past the visiting Firebirds (0-3).
Pennington scored on runs of 4, 1, 6 and 2 yards to account for four of his 20 carries. He also ran for a two-point conversion.
Defensively, Richard Wright recorded nine tackles including two for losses and the Rams (1-1) held the Firebirds (0-3) to 40 yards rushing.

Kyle Tubbs scored all of the points the Phoenix (2-0) would need when he scored on a 45-yard run in the first quarter against the Lions (0-1) at Gratz.
Stacey Hill paced the offense with two touchdowns on runs of 4 and 6 yards. On defense, Akeem Robinson recovered a blocked punt in the end zone for a touchdown and Terrick Carson turned in six tackles for losses.

Ray Tucker rushed for 167 yards and two touchdowns to spark the Wildcats (3-0) past the visiting Jaguars (0-3).
Tucker staked Bok to a 16-0 lead in the first quarter with touchdown runs of 5 and 20 yards.
Michael Adens completed 11 of 25 passes for 173 yards and three touchdowns including scoring strikes of 1 and 23 yards to Andre Frazier for University City.
