Drew Loughery, a junior at La Salle, was one of 30 quarterbacks from across the country selected to attend the U.S. Army Combine 2009, the high school announced.

Five hundred of the nation's top high school football players - all non-seniors - will gather in San Antonio in January for the U.S. Army National Combine. The U.S. Army National Combine is designed to highlight the football abilities and talents of these players.

The three-day event, held annually in association with the U.S. Army All-American Bowl game, is the first opportunity for them to compete against one another.

Modeled after the NFL Scouting Combine, all combine tests and competitive drills will take place in the Alamodome.

Local players Tom Savage, a quarterback from Cardinal O'Hara, and Je'Ron Stokes, a wide receiver from Northeast, are scheduled to play for the East team in the Jan. 3 All-American Bowl.
