Cardinal O'Hara shook up the girls' basketball world yesterday.
Or at least the national top 10 rankings, by beating No. 4 St. Mary's of Stockton, Calif., 65-55, in a Nike Tournament of Champions Elite Bracket game.
The game in Phoenix wasn't really that close as O'Hara, ranked No. 6 nationally by USA Today, dominated the middle two quarters to win going away.
Stephanie Holzer scored 29 points and pulled down 19 rebounds to lead the Lions (7-0) and scored 13 of her points during a 21-8 third-quarter run that put O'Hara up, 47-37.
St. Mary's (8-2) jumped up eight spots in the national poll after winning four games against California competition last week.
Danielle Callahan added 13 points for the Lions.
O'Hara advanced to a game today against Regis Jesuit of Aurora, Colo., at 3:30 p.m. Archbishop Carroll is in the same tournament and plays in another bracket.
