S. Jersey Boys: Ocean City gets by Oakcrest in OT

Oakcrest got the jump with four three-pointers by Darnell Johnson, but Ocean City came back with the 1-2 scoring punch of Matt Whitworth (15 points) and Chris Curran (14).

Curran scored four points in the 7-2 overtime period.

Also in the Cape-Atlantic, Mainland's first win was a 53-42 triumph over visiting Millville, capped by the Mustangs' 15-for-23 fourth-quarter foul shooting. Frank Champion had 16 points and 12 rebounds.

Absegami edged visiting Hammonton, 54-51, as the Braves' David White had 21 points and five rebounds. Hammonton's Mike Bertino scored 24 points.

Olympic.

Sophomore swingman Chris Santo erupted for 37 points and dominated Cherry Hill East's 72-57 success against visiting Bishop Eustace.

Santo added 11 rebounds, teammate Seth Friedman had 10 points and 10 assists, and Logan Marro hit 16 points with five three's.

Behind a defense that allowed just two second-quarter points and an offense that featured Bobby Harris' 19 points, Eastern visiting Cherry Hill West, 50-41.

Camden Catholic converted 23 of 35 foul shots to Timber Creek's 5 of 10, sending the visiting Irish to a 65-53 win. Gerry Wixted's 25 points paced the Irish.

Burlington County.

After leading by one point at halftime, Burlington City reeled off a 17-8 third quarter en route to a 62-50 win over visiting Cinnaminson. The Blue Devils got balanced scoring from Shaquille Butler (15), Markese Morris (14) and Brandon Kennedy (13).

Rancocas Valley eased past visiting Burlington Township, 64-35, as Nnamdi Njoku scored 21 points, and Dom Twitty and Shane McLendon added 16 points apiece.

Rancocas' Mike Bersch suffered a concussion and shoulder injury during the first half and will be out indefinitely. The shoulder is the same shoulder he injured this past summer and missed seven weeks of action.

Five three-point baskets by Brent Foster fueled a 31-point effort that punctuated Westampton Tech's 69-55 victory over visiting Holy Cross.

Nonleague.

Jon Miller's 16-point, 15-rebound double-double powered Gateway to a 56-34 win at Gloucester County Tech. The Gators, who got 10 points from Kevin Robinson, broke open a close game with a 13-2 third quarter.

Collingswood followed 6-foot-1 guard Tyrone Mann-Barnes to an 86-31 win over visiting Northwest Prep with 23 points, six assists and six rebounds.

Audubon dealt host Pennsville a 64-46 setback as T. J. Tassi tossed in 20 points and Brandon Hill Had 17 for the Green Wave. Pennsville's Ryan Karr posted 10 points and 10 assists.

Wrestling

Technical falls in the first two bouts by Robert Deutsch (112 pounds) and Gabriel Cisneros (119) started Eastern's 46-20 nonleague win at Egg Harbor Township. The Vikings got a first-minute pin by Eric Dunnet (130).

Bordentown's Max Bohannon had a first-period pin at 160 pounds, but the Scotties suffered a 36-28 loss to visiting St. John Vianney.

Tri-County.

Clearview started a 66-9 win over visiting Cumberland with consecutive pins from Adam Pierson (135), Tommy Wittman (140) and Mike Gagne (1454). The Pioneers' fastest pin came from Andrew Gee with a 20-second fall at 112.
