Rancocas Valley shooting guard Mike Bersch, one of the top players in South Jersey, is expected to miss four to six weeks after suffering a sprained right shoulder and concussion during Tuesday's 64-35 win over Burlington Township.
During the summer, Bersch suffered a similar shoulder injury and was sidelined for seven weeks.
"I feel horrible for Mike," Rancocas Valley coach Jay Flanagan said. "I feel there is nobody in South Jersey I'd take over him."
The 6-foot-6 Bersch has already earned a scholarship to American University. Last season, he averaged 13.1 points in helping Rancocas Valley win the state Group 4 title.
He will be replaced in the starting lineup by sixth man Shane McLendon, a 6-1 senior who is averaging 12 points per game for the 3-0 Red Devils, who are ranked No. 2 in South Jersey by The Inquirer.
