Carroll turns back N.J. power

The Patriots shook off an 11-point deficit and downed the Irish, 46-41, to win their Boardwalk Classic Showcase game.

Carroll (9-0) fell behind Camden Catholic, 25-14, but used a 21-6 scoring run to grab the lead for good, 35-31. Kasheef Festus converted 7 of 10 shots from the floor and scored 19 points for the Patriots.

Augustinian Shootout.

Lamon Church came up big for Malvern Prep as the Friars downed St. Rita's (Ill.), 61-56, in overtime in California.

Church scored eight of his 20 points in overtime, grabbed 16 rebounds and was 10 for 13 from the foul line.

Chris Smith Memorial Tournament.

John Thomas nailed both ends of a one-and-one with 11 seconds left, and Council Rock South held on to beat host North Penn, 57-55, in the championship game.

Tom Boyd scored 21 points for the Golden Hawks.

Marple Newtown Tournament.

Soutiri Sapnas poured in 41 points for the host Lions in the title game, but Phoenixville got 14 points and 12 rebounds from tournament MVP George Harper and the Phantoms prevailed, 73-70

Surf N Slam Tournament.

Jake Cohen picked up 23 points to lead undefeated Conestoga past Wood Creek, 53-44, to win the tournament title in San Diego.

Catholic Red.

Rakeem Brookins scored 14 of his 20 points in the final quarter and led Roman Catholic past North Catholic, 58-55, in a game at Gwynedd-Mercy College.

Girls' Basketball

Abington's basketball team made the most of a trip to suburban Baltimore over the last two days, coming away with a championship.

The Ghosts (7-2) barely broke a sweat in beating Eastern Tech, 55-33, for the title.

Against Eastern Tech, the Ghosts were led by Jen Kelly, who scored 15 points.

Boardwalk Classic.

At Wildwoods Convention Center, Lower Moreland reached today's championship game of the Big Al Bracket with a 52-18 win over Millville. Lindsay Alexander scored 16 points to lead the Lions.

Kennedy-Kenrick Tournament.

Elle Hagedorn scored 11 points and Mount St. Joseph hammered Engineering and Science, 45-14, to take the title.

Boyertown Bear Classic

. Dana Walsh's 12 points and 16 rebounds earned her the MVP trophy, leading Great Valley to the championship with a 37-28 win over Villa Joseph Marie.

Surf 'N Slam.

MVP Diamon Beckford scored 21 points and added 11 rebounds as Upper Darby topped Mercer Island (Wash.), 64-57, in the title game of the San Diego tournament.

Marple Newtown Tournament.

The host Tigers shot 22 for 27 from the free-throw line to nip Girard College, 45-40, for the title. Denise McKeown, who made the all-tournament team, led Marple Newtown with 16 points.

Wissahickon Tournament.

Souderton got 12 points from from Brittany Sandone to beat Gwynedd-Mercy, 57-37, in the title game. Sarita Kunrod added 11 points for the Indians.

Nonleague.

Junior guard Monet Constant scored eight of her 18 points in the third quarter as host Cheltenham routed Bensalem, 71-33.

Wrestling

Ken Richmond and Anthony Nieves each recorded five wins for Northeast as the Vikings took five victories at the Truman Duals.

Nieves (285 pounds) picked up a pair of pins, and Richmond (145 pounds) added a pin.
