Pa. Girls: Copper leads way for Girard

Freshman Kahlea Copper won't have much left to accomplish throughout the rest of her career if she keeps up her current pace.

Copper turned in her third double-double of the season and sparked Girard College to a 39-33 win over visiting Phil-Mont Christian in a Bicentennial League basketball game yesterday.

Copper scored 17 points and grabbed 12 rebounds while handing out five assists for the Cavaliers.

Girard trailed at halftime, 18-17, but picked up some breathing room with a 14-8 scoring effort in the third quarter.

New Hope-Solebury outscored host Calvary Christian over the middle quarters, 26-10, and went on to beat the Cougars, 57-32.

Alyssa Isler paced the Lions with 19 points.

Christopher Dock held host Morrisville to 12 points after the first quarter and beat the Bulldogs, 50-22.

Lauren Nederostek knocked down a trio of three-pointers and scored 13 points for the Pioneers.

Nicole Cataline closed in on 1,000 career points and led Lower Moreland to a 60-24 win over host Plumstead Christian.

Cataline scored 22 points and has 998 points for her career. She also picked up 10 rebounds, five steals and four blocked shots.

Central.

Amanda Guy drove in for a layup with 10 seconds left and handed Garnet Valley a 48-47 win over visiting Penncrest.

Guy finished the game with 13 points.

Javada Hill collected 15 points for Upper Darby in a 43-40 win over visiting Springfield (Delaware County).

Allison Heath scored 6 of her 18 points in the final quarter and sparked Radnor to a 42-37 win over host Ridley.

Strath Haven used an 18-point performance by Sarah deBerardinis to beat host Haverford High, 51-43.

Ellen Hill led a balanced Conestoga scoring attack with 10 points and the Pioneers dropped visiting Marple Newtown, 50-39.

Del-Val.

Kellee Pace led a balanced Chichester scoring attack with nine points and the Eagles beat visiting Interboro, 33-20.

Ches-Mont.

Ro Gentry struck for 13 points and helped Downingtown East beat host West Chester Henderson, 49-45.

Great Valley got 13 points from Colleen O'Malley and downed host Oxford, 34-28.

Ashley Montecchio poured in 19 points and led Sun Valley to a 40-32 win over host West Chester Bayard Rustin.

Asia Graham and Elisa Gaffney each scored 6 points in the fourth quarter and led Coatesville past visiting West Chester East, 43-34.

Graham scored 19 points and Gaffney added 16 points for the Red Raiders.

Pioneer Athletic.

Lauren Ruhl drained a pair of three pointers in the first quarter and scored 16 points to boost Methacton past visiting Pottsgrove, 55-40, for Warriors' coach Craig Kaminski's 100th career victory.

Kaminski, in his seventh season, is 100-69.

Melissa Mansur picked up 17 points and boosted St. Pius X past host Perkiomen Valley, 66-55.

Catholic Academies.

Maggie Borski went 8 for 9 from the free throw line and scored 18 points to lead Nazareth Academy past visiting Villa Joseph Marie, 59-44.

In another league game, Villa Maria got 13 points each from Erin Mann and Brianna Forde and beat visiting Sacred Heart, 70-45.

Nonleague.

Liz Martin dropped in 15 points for Central Bucks East in a 46-39 win over host Council Rock South.

Karli Engle and Ashley Wood each scored 11 points to lift Spring-Ford past visiting Hatboro-Horsham, 54-36.

Shakia Robinson notched 14 points for North Penn in a 54-36 win over host Neshaminy.
