Edison and host Northeast meet at 7 o'clock tonight for the Public League wrestling crown, and the teams are quite familiar with each other.
A week ago, the Vikings defeated the Owls, 38-33; they overcame a 27-9 deficit to do so. That win gave Northeast the league's regular-season title and the top seed in the playoffs.
At the same time, Edison and Northeast are scheduled to square off, defending champion North Catholic and host La Salle will meet for the Catholic League championship. Tonight's winners will face off for the District 12 title Friday night at the site of the Public League winner.
If tonight's Public League title match is postponed because of weather, it will be staged at 3:30 p.m. tomorrow at Northeast. If the Catholic League final is postponed, it will be moved to 7 p.m. Thursday at La Salle.
Edison was seeded third in the Public League playoffs but earned the right to avenge the regular-season loss to Northeast by stunning second-seeded Washington. The Owls finished 7-2 in the league during the regular season. Northeast finished the regular season 19-3 overall and 9-0 in the league.
North Catholic is 16-2, 4-1 in the Catholic League. La Salle is 18-1 and 5-0.
