Joe Di Salvo, a former Chestnut Hill Academy soccer standout, was introduced yesterday as the Blue Devils' new coach. He replaced Mark Weinmann who resigned in November.

"Joe impressed us all with his talent, knowledge but especially his ability to bring out the best in his student-athletes, not only on the soccer field but in life," Chestnut Hill athletic director Mark Burke said in the statement.

A Blue Devils star in the mid-1990s, Di Salvo garnered all-American honors in high school. He later stood out at the University of North Carolina.

Di Salvo has also been the head coach of the under-17 PSC Coppa soccer team for the last six years.
