S. Jersey Girls: Moorestown reaches swimming final

Stephanie Yaszemski captured two individual events and helped Moorestown win a pair of relays as the second-seeded Quakers defeated No. 3 seed Ocean City, 104-66, yesterday in the NJSIAA South Jersey Public B girls' swimming semifinals.

Moorestown will meet top-seeded Haddonfield for the championship tomorrow night at GCIT.

Yaszemski took first in the 200 freestyle in 2 minutes, 5.25 seconds and the 100 free in :57.39 and contributed to Moorestown's victories in the 200 free relay (1:50.80) and 400 free relay (4:00.87).

Girls' Basketball

Sam Morris led all scorers with 21 points, and Tina Croxton contributed 13 points, 11 rebounds and four blocks as host Deptford drubbed Delsea, 63-49, to clinch at least a share of Tri-County Conference Royal Division.

Samantha Dimitri added 14 points for the Crusaders, who can claim the divisional crown outright with a win Friday at Clearview.

In other Tri-County Conference action:

Junior Kiley Grabbe scored a career-high 22 points and pulled down a dozen rebounds as host Clearview doubled up Cumberland, 48-24.

Briana White scored all of her eight points in the fourth quarter and also came through with four steals to enable host Williamstown to put away Kingsway, 44-33.

Junior forward Kendra Garrison put up 31 points for host Glassboro, which took control from the outset in cruising past Wildwood, 72-50.

Shalisa Hill's quickness proved problematic for Schalick, as the senior guard scored 29 points - primarily on layups coming off her seven steals - in powering host Penns Grove to a 56-31 win.

Behind 14 points by Gabrielle Cooper and 12 points by Cori Conner, Gloucester stormed out to a 35-6 lead in coasting to a 64-24 triumph at GCIT.

Burlington County. Stephanie Mathews saved her best for last, scoring 15 of her 22 in a 29-13 fourth-quarter surge, rallying host Burlington City past Bordentown, 63-56. Lisa Priest (17 points) and Mathews combined for nine of City's 11 three-point baskets. Melanie Bakeman (17 points), Alicia Pickett (16) and She'reva Mendenhall (13) carried the Scotties.

Junior center Maurissa Williams cleared 18 rebounds and matched teammate Alexis Powell's scoring output with 11 points, as host Palmyra outlasted Holy Cross, 42-37.

Joyce Royal scored 17 for host Pemberton, which gained the upper hand in a 21-8 third-quarter spree and then held off Burlington Township, 53-47.

Cape-Atlantic. Senior forward Jesse Frasier scored 15, including her 1,000th career point, and Taneshia Mobley contributed nine points, six steals and six assists to highlight Holy Spirit's 54-25 home win over Wildwood Catholic.

Tiana Cannon enjoyed a solid all-around game - producing with 14 points, 11 rebounds, three assists and two steals - and Kenzi Johnson (12 points) came through with a field goal and two free throws in overtime as host Atlantic City knocked off Oakcrest, 49-47.

Kyana McCarthy ruled the lane, totaling 13 points and 10 rebounds, and Jessica Combs dealt five assists in guiding host Hammonton over Millville, 45-17.

All 13 players on Middle Township's squad scored, led by Jessie Mooers with 16 points, as the Panthers pounded Pleasantville, 61-30.

Jimmeana Loatman tossed in 19 points and Sha'dasia Farrell added 16 for host Bridgeton, which shook off a slow start to pull away from Buena, 50-30.

Olympic. Christina Foggie knocked down three of Lenape's five three-pointers in scoring 23, allowing the Indians to slip past host Shawnee, 54-42.

Shamire Weaver and Danielle Forrest scored 11 points apiece for host Winslow Township, which broke the game open with a 24-8 third-quarter blitz and went on to crush Cherry Hill West, 56-37.

Colonial. Meghan Nowak's hot start, which saw the sophomore center score 12 of her 20 in a 20-6 first quarter, put Gateway on course for a 55-25 win at Overbrook.

Nonleague. Rae Felton fashioned a triple-double for host Highland with 17 points, 11 rebounds and 11 blocks, and the Tartans took command early and didn't look back in dispatching Triton, 54-35.

Genevieve Boisvert (18 points) and Marie Boisvert (14) supplied more than enough scoring to allow host Cherry Hill East to run away from Gloucester Catholic, 59-29.

Camden Catholic placed 13 players in the scoring column, led by Shantel McNeil's 12 points, in an 81-36 romp at Pennsauken Tech.

Cinnaminson used a 19-2 game-opening run and a balanced attack to pave the way for its 18th win in 20 games, 53-29, over visiting Pennsauken.

Lauren Alwan grabbed 13 rebounds to go with her game-high 16 points, and Angela Miller posted 14 points, 17 rebounds and three blocked shots, but host Timber Creek's late rally fell short in a 63-60 loss to Hun School.
