Delsea has 8 winners; Fedechko takes 4th district title

Luke Fedechko, one of eight Delsea winners last night, captured his fourth district title and led the host Crusaders to the team championship at the NJSIAA District 31 wrestling tournament.

Fedechko (29-1) was named the competition's Outstanding Wrestler after rolling up a 16-1 technical fall over Schalick's Andrew Corbett in the 135-pound title bout. Other winners for the Crusaders were Kurt Delia (103 pounds), Rob Jillard (112), Matt Hennelly (119), Eric Reger (140), Scott Kornberger (171), Will Anderson (189) and Dan Walker (285).

In a surprise at 145, third-seeded Kenny Emmons of Pennsville prevailed with a 5-4 decision over top-seeded Joseph Renaurd of Kingsway. Delsea's Greg Sawyer was named the district's Coach of the Year.

The top three wrestlers in each weight class advance to next week's regional tournaments.

District 28. Haddon Heights' Danny Miller was named the Outstanding Wrestler and improved his record to 28-1, recording a 15-3 major decision over Haddon Township's Ron Hoover to claim the 119-pound championship at Collingswood.

After upsetting Haddon Township's top-seeded Zak Dickinson, 3-2 in the semifinals, Collingswood heavyweight Kevin King (19-10), the No. 4 seed, took the title with a 3-2 decision over second seeded Joe Barnet of Paul VI.

Camden Catholic's Taylor Walsh (32-1) at 135 pounds, registered three pins en route to winning his third district title.

Coach of the Year honors went to Haddon Township's Chris Hoffman.

Hammonton's John Bakcukas (33-0) recorded a pair of first period pins before taking the 152-pound title with a 5-2 decision over Highland's Rob Prendergrast (27-6).

St. Augustine's A. J. Fisher (125) won his third consecutive district title, while teammate Nick DiGalbo (145) took his second straight championship.

Egg Harbor Township's Zach Agostino (160) won his third title.

In a showdown at 189, Holy Spirit's Mac Mancuso, a defending state champion, won his second title in three years with a 6-0 decision over St. Augustine's Leon White.
