Anthony Talarico, a former standout at Bishop Eustace and the University of Delaware, has been named the boys' soccer coach at Paul VI.
The school also named Bob Swain its head softball coach.
The 24-year-old Talarico was a four-year starter at Delaware. He graduated in 2007.
"I don't have high school coaching experience, but I played the game at a high level, and I think that will really help," Talarico said. He replaces Butch Ludwig.
Swain, 47, is also taking his first high school coaching job, although he has been coaching youth sports since 1990.
He is familiar with the Paul VI team because his daughter, Melissa, is a sophomore catcher/first baseman and was a first-team all-Olympic Conference National Division selection last season.
Swain replaces Michelle Schlichtig, now the head coach at Haddon Heights.
"I know most of these girls well and ran their captains' practices, and they talked me into applying for the job," Swain said. "It's good that I have a good rapport with them, and I'm looking forward to getting started."
