Lavander Johns drained a three-pointer from the left wing with 1.4 seconds left in a second overtime period and the Battling Bulls edged the Bucks, 60-57, at Colonial Elementary School in Plymouth Meeting.
Reginald Miles helped Glen Mills get to that point by scoring all of his 23 points in the second half when the Bulls trailed West by 10 points with 4 minutes left in regulation.
Glen Mills (20-7) will open the state tournament with a play-in game against the District 2 runner-up on March 3.
District 1 Class A. Cordell Long led a balanced Church Farm scoring attack with 13 points and the fourth-seeded Griffins beat No. 2 seed Christopher Dock, 49-41, to claim third place and the final District 1 Class A berth in the PIAA state tournament in a game at Wissahickon.
Church Farm (17-8) will open the state tournament with a play-in game against the District 2 runner-up on March 3.
Girls' Basketball
Girard College became the only team inside the city limits of Philadelphia to earn a District 1 Class A girls' playoff berth with a 32-27 win over Jenkintown at Wissahickon in a third-place game.
The Cavaliers took a 28-17 lead in the final quarter and remained comfortably ahead despite a mini-Drake comeback. Kahlea Cooper's 14 points led the way and Joyce Randolph added 12.
Cooper, a 6-foot-1 forward, added 10 rebounds for the Cavaliers who will take on the District 2 champion on Tuesday night on the road.
District 1 Class AAAA. In a ninth-place game, Dana Walsh scored 14 points and added 10 rebounds as Great Valley earned the district's final playoff berth with a 50-31 win over Abington. The Patriots (24-4) played a matchup zone that held high-scoring Abington forwards Liz Layton to eight points and Emily Leer to seven.
Coed Bowling
Several Public League bowlers traveled north to Allentown and turned in some outstanding performances at the Eastern Pennsylvania Bowling Championships. Stephen Schall of Central, who turned in a high game of 190 and a high six-game series of 1,061.
