S. Jersey Boys: Haddonfield edges past Bridgeton, 66-64

The game was tied at 64 when Steinberger drove to the basket. His lay-up attempt with three seconds remaining missed the mark, but his shot off the offensive rebound found the net, capping his 21-point performance.

Sophomore Wyatt Polk led the Bulldogs (21-7) with 25 points, including 12 in the first quarter. Bridgeton, which wrapped up an 18-9 season, was led by Davon McClendon's 13 points.

Also in Group 2, Mitch Carsillo scored a season-high 14 points with three three-pointers and dished out seven assists, topping a list of 11 Collingswood players who contributed points to a 68-50 quarterfinal win over visiting Pleasantville.

The game included a total of 69 foul shots, with the Panthers making 19 of 46. Tyrone Mann-Barnes chipped in with 12 points, and Pleasantville's Sheldon Spiller scored 14.

Top-seeded Camden opened with a 76-66 quarterfinal triumph over visiting Cinnaminson, which stayed in the game after trailing by 21 points at one time with eight three-point baskets by Doug Bernard (26).

The Panthers' sixth man, Devon Devine, came off the bench to score 11 second-quarter points in a 17-point performance, supporting Aaron Walton-Moss' 28 points.

South Jersey Group 4. Millville converted 10 of 16 fourth-quarter foul shots, including 5 of 6 by Derek Stafford (13), and held off visiting Triton for a 63-59 first-round win.

Stafford scored 11 of his points after halftime and Mike Trout led the Thunderbolts with 15 points.

Rancocas Valley, seeded No. 1, eliminated visiting Vineland, 54-34, in the quarterfinals by outscoring the Clan, 34-16, over the two middle periods. Nnamdi Njoku's 17 points and Kenny Johnson's 16 supplied most of the Red Devils' offense.

South Jersey Group 3. Pemberton ousted visiting Manchester Township, 56-46, in a first-round game that featured Ja'Quan Cummings' 16 points and Jalen Armstead's 14.

South Jersey Group 1. Penns Grove, seeded last in a 10-team field, claimed a 68-62 first-round upset at seventh-seeded Cape May Tech. Travon Taylor, who led four Red Devils in double figures with 15 points, scored eight in the fourth period.

Bishop Eustace (21-5) opened the NJSIAA playoffs by beating visiting St. Augustine for the third time this season, 2-0. Crusaders goalie Nick Casella made 25 saves for his fifth shutout, and sophomore Andrew Taylor scored his 16th and 17th goals off assists by Mark Constantine.
