Carino All-Star Game sets its rosters of senior talent

Most of South Jersey's top senior boys' basketball talent will be on display for the 32d annual Albert J. Carino Basketball Club of South Jersey All-Star Game.

This year's game is 3 p.m. March 28 at Eastern. A grammar school All-Star Game will begin the festivities at 1 p.m.

Proceeds from the event fund the basketball club's annual scholarship program that has distributed more than $80,000 since the inception of the games and the Lions Clubs' sight programs.

The majority of the participants have yet to choose a college, so this will be one final time for the seniors to showcase their ability in front of the coaches expected to attend.

The West team consists of players from the Olympic, Colonial and Burlington County Scholastic Leagues. There is also one player, Tyrone Parker, from Leap Academy of Camden, which isn't affiliated with any of those leagues.

The East is comprised of players from the Tri-County and Cape-Atlantic Leagues. In addition, one Olympic Conference player, Collin Johnson of Timber Creek, is on the East roster, as is center Matt Poitrowski of Atlantic Christian, which isn't affiliated with either the Tri-County or the Cape.
