Yesterday, the school announced the hiring of Kevin Pellegrini, son of former longtime boss Gamp Pellegrini.

"Kevin is going to do a fantastic job of carrying on the great tradition of success of Malvern football," Kurt Ruch, Malvern Prep's athletic director, said in a press release.

Kevin Pellegrini, 37, had served for the Friars, under his father, as an associate head coach and head junior varsity coach. An administrative whiz, he played football at Malvern Prep (Class of 1990) and Georgetown.

In 31 seasons at Malvern Prep, Gamp Pellegrini, 70, posted a 219-86-8 mark and won 20 Inter-Academic League championships (four shared). Last season's squad went 10-0 overall, 5-0 in the Inter-Ac and outscored foes by 424-115. In The Inquirer's final Southeastern Pennsylvania rankings, the team was No. 1.
