St. Augustine Prep senior Bill Giberson has signed a letter of intent to play football at Sacred Heart University.

An all-South Jersey selection last fall as a punt returner, he said the school, based in Fairfield, Conn., was a "perfect fit" for him.

"As soon as I saw the campus, I fell in love with the place," said Giberson, who lives in Hammonton. "It's in a great town, but it's only 20 minutes from New York."

Giberson returned four punts for touchdowns last season as St. Augustine went 10-1. He also caught 24 passes for 484 yards and eight touchdowns as a receiver.

Sacred Heart, a member of the Northeast Conference, was 8-3 last season.

Giberson, who also was a standout for the St. Augustine basketball team, said his collegiate position likely would be determined by his physical development.

"The coaches said if my body blows up, they might like me to be an outside linebacker," the 6-foot-4, 200-pound Giberson said. "If not, I'll probably stay at receiver. Either way is fine with me."
