Blees lifts Upper Darby over Ridley

Dale Blees took care of business for Upper Darby's baseball team yesterday and the Royals slogged home with a victory.

Blees hit a triple to lead off the seventh inning and scored on an errant throw to give Upper Darby a 5-4 win over visiting Ridley in a Central League game.

Catholic Blue. Scott Verano struck out 12 over five innings, gave up three hits and walked none as Conwell-Egan braved the elements and dropped visiting West Catholic, 10-0.

Nonleague. Ryan Sheffer ripped a triple, a home run and drove in three runs to lift Faith Christian past visiting Renaissance Academy, 17-2.

Jackie McBride, Christine Mattis and Megan McGee teamed up to give Upper Darby the lead in the sixth inning and the Royals held on to beat host Ridley, 5-2, in a Central League game.

With her team trailing in the sixth inning, 2-1, McBride led off with a double, Mattis followed with an RBI triple to tie the game and McGee put Upper Darby into the lead for good, 3-2, with an RBI single.

Catholic. Marykate Scott tossed a complete-game five-hitter and led Lansdale Catholic past host Conwell-Egan, 9-0.
