Pa. Boys: Ashwell's homer lifts Truman over Pennsbury

The Tigers held an 8-0 lead, but the Falcons came back to take a 10-8 lead. Starting catcher Brian Beyer pitched the final eight innings to earn the win.

In another league game, Scott Christy went 3 for 4 and Christian Radick pounded a two-run homer in the top of the seventh inning to lead North Penn past Central Bucks South, 6-2.

Public. David Martinez hit a bloop single to drive in Jose Morera in the bottom of the seventh inning and handed Kensington a 5-4 win over visiting Olney.

In other league action:

Freshman Brian Davenport drove in four runs with a pair of singles and struck out five over four innings to lead Boys Latin past host Freire Charter, 13-11.

Jorge Martinez hit a two-run double in the seventh inning as Philadelphia Academy Charter downed host Overbrook, 7-2.

Stephen King struck out 12, walked three, and held Lamberton to a triple to give visiting Southern a 12-2 win.

Chris Wood and Billy Powers each drove in two runs and Josh Godbolt drove in three runs as Masterman handled visiting Roxborough, 10-0.

Juan Roldan threw a four-inning no-hitter and helped Mariana Bracetti beat host Communications Tech, 19-0.

Roldan struck out six and walked one. Duane Paulino powered the Bulldogs on offense with six runs batted in and Roldan drove in four runs.

David Rosser hit a two-run single in the fifth inning to lift Martin Luther King to a 4-2 win over Bartram.

Rosser's single gave the Golden Cougars a 4-1 lead.

Joe Gorman struck out 20 and hit a two-run single in the ninth inning to give Furness a 7-2 win over host Engineering & Science.

Gorman pitched all nine innings, gave up four hits and walked five.

Junior Weyeah hit a single, double and a three-run homer to help West Philadelphia beat host Ben Franklin, 17-7.

Weyeah also got the win on the mound after striking out 14.

Central leadoff hitter Ian Lewis picked up two singles, three walks and scored four times to lead the Lancers to a 13-1 win over host Edison.

Catholic Red. Mark Golic, Steve Markle, and Sean Kovacs hit RBI singles in the second inning and led Archbishop Ryan past visiting North Catholic, 4-2.

Tom Neely struck out 12 over six innings en route to the win.

Sean Murphy hit a sacrifice fly with one out in the bottom of the eighth inning and handed St. Joseph's Prep a 4-3 win over visiting Father Judge.

Murphy's drive with the bases loaded brought in Ryan Eden with the deciding run.

Bill Pace drove in four runs with a pair of doubles and a single and lifted Cardinal O'Hara past visiting Monsignor Bonner.

Brendan McCoy hit a three-run homer in the third inning and lifted La Salle past host Roman Catholic, 6-3.

Catholic Blue. Mark Donato tossed the first no-hitter of his career and boosted Neumann-Goretti past visiting Bishop McDevitt, 3-0.

Donato struck out nine and walked two.

Central. Griffin Stewart hit a double, a triple, scored a run and drove in a run as Conestoga downed visiting Lower Merion, 3-1.

Marc McGough ripped a pair of triples and drove in five runs to spark Penncrest to a 13-8 win over host Haverford High.

Suburban One American. Rich Acierno hit a double and a triple to spark Springfield (Montgomery County) to an 8-3 win over host Upper Moreland.

Ches-Mont. Dan Wing hit a three-run homer in the fourth inning and Pat Loughran added a two-run shot to boost Unionville to a 12-7 win over visiting Oxford.

Kevin Jewitt went 4 for 4 with a double, three runs scored and an RBI and led West Chester Rustin past host Octorara, 7-1.

Pioneer Athletic. Ronnie Levan scored the deciding run in front of a single by Matt Cohen and Pottstown shaded host Phoenixville, 4-3.

Bicentennial. Andrew Strenge ripped a fifth-inning grand slam and Greg Olenski added a solo shot as Holy Ghost Prep exploded for nine runs in the inning and closed out a 11-1 victory over host Bristol.

Nonleague. Andrew Keys went 3 for 3 with a double and sparked Valley Forge to a 14-1 win over host West-Mont Christian.

Chris Johnson (3 innings) and Derek DeLucia (1 inning) combined on a one-hitter for the Trojans.

Tennis

Ricardo and Andres Prince made it to the semifinals for Wissahickon after the first day of the Suburban One American Conference singles tournament at Plymouth Whitemarsh.

Ricardo, the top seed of the tournament, beat Matt Maskirinec of Upper Merion in a quarterfinal match, 6-1, 6-2, while Andres, the No. 4 seed, dropped Ahmeer Moore of Norristown, 6-0, 6-3.

Ricardo and Andres will face each other in the semifinals today, with the winner meeting either Matt Simon or Jesse Richfield of Plymouth Whitemarsh for the title. Richfield is the No. 2 seed and Simon is seeded third.
