S. Jersey Boys: Riverside wins playoff spot, blanking Trenton Catholic

Tim Borek circled the bases with an inside-the-park home run, and Dillon O'Neal and Aaron Miller combined to pitch the four-hit shutout in the Burlington County League game.

Teams with a record of .500 or better in games played through today are eligible for the tournament.

Also in Burlington County, Sean Senavilla went 3 for 4 with three RBIs, including a two-run homer, highlighting Palmyra's 11-9 win over visiting Burlington City.

Matt Barnett singled, doubled and homered for three RBIs, fueling Maple Shade's 8-5 win at New Egypt.

Olympic. Bishop Eustace rallied for three runs in the top of the seventh, then got out of a bases-loaded jam in the bottom of the inning to escape with an 8-7 win at Shawnee.

Jimmy Coyle, who also homered, had a two-run single in the seventh, and winning pitcher Chris Bzozowski hit a pair of homers for four RBIs. Shawnee's Mark Brusco (six RBIs) also homered twice.

Andrew Aquila lined a three-run double, and Shaun Flynn went 3 for 4 with three runs scored to steer Seneca to a 14-10 win at Paul VI.

Cape-Atlantic. Holy Spirit (14-1) avenged its only loss of the season with an 11-4 win over visiting Buena (11-6). Rob Wallace, the No. 9 hitter, slugged a grand slam.

Egg Harbor Township's Dan Allen pitched an 8-0 no-hitter against visiting Oakcrest. Allen fanned eight and walked four.

Colonial. Audubon needed Pat Tassi's run-scoring single in the bottom of the ninth to clip visiting Sterling, 5-4.

Tri-County. Home runs by R. J. Hollenbeak and Casey Clement combined with three RBIs each from Joe Farrell and Marc Mackiewicz to boost Schalick past visiting Salem, 17-6.

Matt Spillman (3-0) has half of Clearview's wins after pitching a a 4-1 victory over visiting Delsea with eight strikeouts. Scott Milden hit a two-run homer.

Nonleague. Haddon Township scored all of its runs in the sixth inning, including three home runs, en route to a 7-1 win at Pennsauken. Ian Lindsey, Mike Byrnes and winning pitcher Frank Trautz each hit two-run homers.

Home runs off the bats of Steve Bruno, Nick Core and George Spingler helped Gloucester Catholic beat host Sacred Heart, 6-4.

Clayton dealt visiting Woodbury an 11-7 setback as Joe Lincoln and Anthony Hughes homered.

Wildwood swept a doubleheader against visiting rival Wildwood Catholic, 6-1, and 4-1. Nick Palmer struck out 11 in the first game, and Steve Bolle, a transfer from Wildwood Catholic, pitched a complete game in the nightcap, losing his shutout with two outs in the seventh.

Tennis

Cherokee got a pair of three-set comeback victories and edged Millville, 3-2, in the first round of the South Jersey Group 4 tournament.

For the Chiefs, Josh Rodriguez won, 0-6, 6-2, 6-2, at third singles, and Billy DePietro and Chris Mullen rallied to win, 3-6, 7-5, 6-3, at second doubles.

Mainland's Bryan Miller and Egor Milov needed a 7-3 tiebreaker to wrap up a 6-2, 7-6 doubles win, aiding a 4-1 win over visiting Oakcrest.

South Jersey Group 3. Ocean City breezed past visiting Pinelands, 5-0, as Dan Barrus, Charlie Nusbaum and Brandon George combined to lose just six singles games.

Kingsway claimed a 5-0 shutout of visiting Delsea. Rick Davis and Steve Mackay teamed for a 6-2, 6-4 win at first singles.
