One day before resuming play in the NJSIAA softball tournament, New Egypt and host Bordentown brought playoff intensity to yesterday's Burlington County League softball showdown.
And for good reason.
Bordentown's 3-2 victory kept the Scotties' Patriot Division title hopes alive, while preventing first-place New Egypt from clinching at least a share of the division crown.
Warriors starter Emily Bausher handcuffed Bordentown over the first five innings, but the Scotties broke through in the sixth - scoring three times - with Jessica Villalba driving in the eventual game-winner.
New Egypt scored a run in the seventh, but Ashleigh Johnson slammed the door to finish off the win.
Today, Bordentown will travel to Delaware Valley for a Central Jersey Group 2 quarterfinal, while New Egypt is headed to Point Pleasant Beach for a Central Jersey Group 1 quarterfinal.
