Randy Johnson, a 1993 graduate of Salem, has been named the school's new football coach, and New Egypt named Luke Sinkhorn to replace Tom Farrell as its head football coach.

A former football player at Salem, Johnson had held assistant coaching positions at Schalick, Penns Grove and Paulsboro.

Johnson replaced Steve Sheffield, who was 7-23 in three seasons as head coach.

When asked if Sheffield had resigned, Salem athletic director Dave Suiter declined comment, suggesting that it was best to talk to Sheffield.

Sheffield could not be reached for commment.

At New Egypt, Farrell resigned after the season when he was named the school's principal. Sinkhorn was an assistant the last three seasons under Farrell.
