The PIAA switched from two classifications to three in 2005. Spring-Ford and Souderton finished second in Class AAAA
the last two years.
The Knights won district championships in 2008, 2005, and 1984. The district titles were followed by first-round state losses. In 1984, in Class AAA and coached by Dave Rittenhouse, North Penn (19-2) bowed to Northern Lehigh, 2-1, in 12 innings.
The school's last state football crown came in 2003. North Penn downed District 7's Pittsburgh Central Catholic, 37-10, that year.
Last year, carrying a 21-0 record, Parkland was upset by Whitehall in a District 11 quarterfinal. In 2007, the Trojans lost to Liberty in the District 11 final.
