Football games to watch this weekend

PUBLIC AA

Ted Silary on the city leagues

PUBLIC AA

Bok Tech vs. Imhotep Charter

Today, 3 p.m.

at Germantown Supersite

Imhotep is feeling frisky after topping Franklin last Friday. This one is for the division title (assuming no later slipups). Imhotep's Christopher Lewis and Bok's Andre Frazier, both juniors, are quality passers.

NONLEAGUE

Malvern at Frankford

Tomorrow, 1 p.m.

Two of the city leagues' very top programs will finally bang heads. Both have been running the wing-T forever. And mostly winning for what seems like that long. Frankford's top rusher, Tyrell Martin, is the senior class president. Niiiiiiiiice.

CATHOLIC AAAA

St. Joseph's Prep vs. La Salle

Tomorrow, 7 p.m.

at Plymouth-Whitemarsh

You might want to get in line for tickets right now. La Salle snatched last year's title. Prep has been the CL's top program of the decade. These schools' grads/students, probably hoarse after a long week of trash-yelling, would go wild over a pingpong match. The X-factor for La Salle: whether star wideout Sam Feleccia and handyman Jamal Abdur-Rahman will be effective, or even available, coming off injuries.

Bob Cooney on South Jersey

Moorestown at Shawnee

Tonight, 7 o'clock

Both teams are in unfamiliar positions, as Moorestown is 1-1 after a blowout loss to Timber Creek and Shawnee is 0-2 after close losses to powerful Cherokee (14-7) and speedy Winslow Township (48-42). Another loss for either team would make a possible playoff appearance very difficult.

Delsea at Gloucester Catholic

Tomorrow, 10:30 a.m.

Both teams are 2-0, which isn't unexpected. Delsea will certainly have revenge on its mind after getting stomped at home by Gloucester Catholic, 54-26, last season. Delsea is still loaded and experienced while the Rams are a bit younger.

Joseph Santoliquito on Delaware County

Garnet Valley at Penncrest

Tonight, 7 o'clock

Penncrest has the most explosive offense in Delaware County, averaging county highs in points (39) and total yardage (more than 400) per game. Garnet Valley is coming off its first-ever Central League loss, 14-7, to Conestoga, where the Jaguars gave up 183 yards rushing.

Ridley at Strath Haven

Tonight, 7:30

This is a battle of unbeatens. Ridley shut out Haverford, 39-0, holding the Fords to four first downs and 90 yards of total offense. Strath Haven will counter with the dangerous Lonnie Richardson, who was slightly dinged in Strath Haven's victory over Radnor, but should be ready to play against the Green Raiders.
