Methacton girls capture title at Shore

Lauren Ruhl hit a trio of three-pointers and added 13 points and seven assists, and Mel Ordway scored 11 for the Warriors.

Central Bucks East, ignited by a 16-5 first-quarter outburst and Sarah Martin's double-double, grabbed the consolation matchup, 55-34, over Lower Moreland. Martin had 15 points and 12 rebounds as the Patriots built a 52-34 advantage on the boards.

Boardwalk Bracket A. Germantown Friends was held to 11 percent shooting during a 48-12 consolation loss to Mainland. Iris Williamson had six points for the Tigers.

Boardwalk Bracket C. Owen J. Roberts breezed into today's final with a 64-36 win over Oakcrest in which 10 players scored for the Wildcats. Kara Mann tossed in 17 points and K.B. Betson grabbed six steals for OJR, which built a 24-5 first-quarter lead.

Hatboro-Horsham will face Owen J. Roberts for the title after knocking off Lower Cape May, 48-26. Cailin Schmeer registered 14 points and five steals, and Kate Romano had 13 points and six rebounds.

West Chester. Jess Koci's all-around game produced 19 points, eight rebounds, three assists and three steals en route to driving Archbishop Ryan to a 68-37 triumph over Emmaus in a quarterfinal at West Chester University.

Notre Dame will face Ryan in today's semifinals after bouncing Central, 59-41. The Irish bolted to a 31-8 lead as Meghan McCullough had 12 points and five steals in the opening period and finished with 21 points, seven steals and six assists.

In other first-round action, Villa Maria defeated Prep Charter, 52-25, and advanced to a semifinal matchup against Bethlehem Liberty. Liberty beat Little Flower, 54-25.

Boys' Basketball

Washington opened the Paul VI Tournament showcase event in Camden County, N.J. with an 83-60 loss to host Paul VI, despite 24 points by Donte Williams.

Boardwalk Bracket A. Lower Moreland shot just 36 percent from the field in the title game at Wildwood and dropped a 60-45 verdict to Cape May Tech. Ryan Abel led the Lions with 19 points, six rebounds and three assists.

In the consolation game, Philadelphia Electrical got 15 points from Carrington Ward but suffered a 60-48 loss to Ocean City.
